During COVID lockdowns, Paul discovered the joys of barefoot walking in reforested areas near his home, which fostered a deeper connection with nature. Picking up rubbish on trails became a way of caring for the environment and himself, while barefoot walking transformed his awareness of the seasons and local wildlife. Inspired by research on the benefits of barefoot walking, he transitioned fully over five years, finding it invigorating and healing.
